About Rick Tanton
Rick is a digital advertising ex-pat now plying his trade as a serial entrepreneur: Owner of Loyal Order, a digital strategic consultancy, co-owner of Twisted Branch brewery, and in startup mode on a beverage importing business, fortune cookie startup, and this exact podcast. His story began in his 20s when he weighed over 240 lbs (at 5'8"!) and became hooked on Eco-Challenge. A plea to a friend to help him get in shape so he could compete saw him eventually lose over 80lbs and complete the 2014 Spartan World Championships.
In 2016, at the age of 42, his first child was born, a son named Rhett, and he realized living a longer and higher quality of life would be important. Becoming hooked on self-improvement podcasts and books led him to launching The Paul Project with Alex in hopes of living to be 125 and seeing his son become a senior citizen.
MOE (Method of Eating)
Generally Paleo with low carb and very low sugar, but ~2 beers a week. Typically a 40/40/20 fat/protein/carb split. I will often shift that to a 30/60/10 ketogenic style, but tend to knock myself out on purpose to keep from the in/out of keto.
